In the night, Sylla has seemed to have disappeared along with her boar companion Bacon. Upon discovering her tracks leading to the well at Barthen’s Seebo jumps in Leeroy style to investigate. He is confronted with an otyugh and gains the aid of Belgwyn, Dennis, and EKIM in the end. They discover a short sword in the carrion pile that they recognize as belonging to Sylla.
Reaching the surface they notice Sariel talking to a dwarven stranger. Introducing herself as Gwyn Oresong, sister of Elsa the bartender at Stonehill Inn. She eagerly offers her help in solving the clues gained from their investigations. She also brings them to the Stonehill Inn where her fellow travelers are staying. Making quick introductions the group meets their newest ‘members’ Lucius and Fionne. Together they all continue their investigations in town at the Shrine of Luck and Miner’s Guild.
The clues they have put together in all are:
- Graffiti from the Sleeping Giant mentions something about ‘Zorz’.
- Talking to Ander at the well he reports he heard the vandals shout about returning to the Rest.
- At the Shrine of Luck, they find tracks going in the same direction to the east that Halia points out. They also found an axe and recognize the runes on it as Duergar.
- After talking to Halia and being pointed in the direction of the vandals escape the party followed the tracks to a camp. They overheard the name ‘Ruxithid’ and captured one of the goblins. Interrogation reveals that they are staying at a Duergar outpost, are enjoying their freedom after living underground, and are looking for black glass stones in town.
Gwyn takes all this information and dives into her books. She comes back to the group with the location of Zorzula’s Rest, a Duergar Mining outpost in the mountains to the southeast of Phandalin. She recommends that the group continue their investigation at that location.
