After settling in for the evening, Sariel was able to have time to herself and opened the wooden concealment box. Inside she found items she kept to herself and the instruction phrases to reveal/conceal the box forms. In the morning, Brughor Axe-Biter presented a couple of propositions regarding the fate of the Tresendar Manor. The party present at breakfast decided to give Brughor enough gold up front to begin the repairs to bring the manor back up to its former glory and re-establish it as a working estate. Upkeep cost will be taken from the mining funds, which will now be kept by Brughor at the manor rather than the miner’s exchange.
The group then met up with Gywn, who at the behest of Sildar had invited Daran Edermath to assist in the lay of the land. Between Daran and Gywn the party was educated on the location of Dragon Barrow, Falcon’s Hunter Lodge, Umbrage Hill, Axeholm, and Zorzula’s Rest. The party decided to pursue the legend behind Dragon Barrow and travel north. Along the way, they passed through a cloud of gnats. Seebo, Sariel, and EKIM all contracted an unknown disease.
At the end of the second day of travel and reaching the hilltop south of the barrow at dusk, the group decided to wait out the night after scouting will o-wisps on the barrow. In the morning they ventured up the barrow discovering the entrance to the fabled tomb. After several mishaps with traps the party discovered the reanimated remains of a riding horse (now bonded to Groz) and a dragon slayer longsword. Defeating the entity protecting the sword, finding a necklace of fireballs and a lute of illusions, the party made haste to return to Phandalin. Along the way, the three infected members came down with symptoms and started to suffer. The choice was made to push beyond Phandalin to Umbrage Hill in hopes of getting a remedy there.
At Umbrage Hill the party made quick work of the manticore and received 2 potions of healing and not much else. They began the return to Phandalin to rest up and prepare for the next step of their journey.
