With the party split, they are attacked by Pharblex and his guards plus the giant frogs from the underground lake. In the end they party corners Pharblex, taking him prisoner and discovering the passphrase for the teleportation circle. Sariel, Fionne (shark surfing), and Lucius take the time to explore the rest of the lake, finding the Bullywugs guarding the tadpole hatchery. Knocking out the guards, stealing one tadpole as a pet, and then putting the rest out of their misery through boiling the ‘egg trio’ rejoins just as the rest of the party is testing the teleportation circle with one of Pharblex’s idols.
Pushing forward the group enters the circle and activates it. A short moment later, they find themselves standing amongst 2 stone pillars in an unknown forest region. A quick glance around shows no signs of Rezmir or Azbara, and they turn their attention to the hunting lodge at the edge of the clearing containing multiple teleportation circles. A quick, tense but diffused encounter with the troll Trepsin in the kennels catches the attention of Talis who greets the group at the front door. Escorting them to the top floor of the lodge Talis begins conversations, potentially even swooning, with the group.
She quickly dispels any attempts to deceive her into thinking the party belongs to the cult, but she also seems welcoming and interested in the party and their potential. She does express her disdain for Rezmir and the ‘holder’ of the white mask. Getting late she asks that the party retire to their rooms with the intent to speak more at breakfast. At breakfast the party will finish brokering a deal with Talis to return the white mask to her in exchange for her help in getting into the cloud castle currently anchored at Parnast. Her motivations are clear, she is helping them in order to destroy Rezmir and expects the white mask in return.
On the way to their rooms Sariel attempted to contact Tethren forgetting she had already used her ring that morning. Her sigh caught the attention of Randall who once again questioned why she was being so weird. Telling him not to worry, the group reluctantly called it a night. In the morning Sariel sent an update to Tethren only to receive news from an unknown, unnamed female that he was away with friends in Q’Barra over something related to dragon blood. Sariel took this opportunity to finally admit to the group that she had been talking with Tethren via a sending ring for some time. She also revealed the box and its abilities, but not how it functions.
