A man in a strange long cape/cloak (trench coat) and dark spectacles independently approached Alex and Reldor letting them know that their assistance was needed. Other than walking through a strange door neither of them remembers what happened next. The awoke in a cold tunnel with the sounds of conversations echoing throughout. Walking to the end of the tunnel they are met with a large group gathering around a dead dragon and humanoid frozen solid. Reldor recognizes all but Oogway while Alex has no clue what is going on.
The party has taken a moment to rest up even though Belgwyn periodically continues to hack away at the dead dragon in frustration. They take notice of the 2 figures emerging from the far tunnel. Reldor they recognize, but the dark figure they do not. Before they can really make introductions, they are interrupted by a soft, noble feminine voice. A figure appears out of the mist next to the frozen Talis, an elegant elven woman dressed in dark, almost gothic, attire. Introducing herself as Sandesyl, the ‘night watch’, she begins to take in the full scene. Showing no remorse at the death of Talis she taps the frozen figure causing it to crumble into a pile of snow. Turning her attention to the slain dragon, she lets her ‘darlings’ know that the dead dragon is a bigger problem. With a flick of her wrist the dragon also turns to a pile of snow (Belgwyn is not a fan) and a gust of wind through the tavern whisks the two piles up and out. Sandesyl, by now nicknamed Sandy by the party, offers the group a choice. Cause trouble and make her enact her duties as the night watch, or come with her to a safe place to rest for the evening and then meet her master in the morning. After some debating and a couple of party members realizing they have no heart to harm Sandy, the party accepts her offer of a place to rest.
Sandy takes the group up to the top of the crumbling tower they saw sticking out of the mist while in Parnast. They are shown into a large room, windows and cracks filled in with thick ice, a rickety balcony overlooking the courtyard below, and a single stone box in the center of the room. Wishing them a good night Sandy closes the door and locks it from the outside. Investigation of the room does not produce anything. Looking into the box, Sariel and Reldor discover a thin layer of dirt. Sariel climbs in and closes the lid, only to quickly open and exit after being overwhelmed with the smell of death inside. 3 watches go by without anything but the persistent wind outside on the balcony. Before the crack of dawn, Sandy wakes the group and lets them know they have an hour before she will take them to her master. Sariel openly makes contact with the new voice on the other side of the sending ring. Being informed of no new news and being at a lost regarding Sariels update of their situation. At the end of the hour, Sandy appears on the balcony saying it is time. The door unlocks from outside, Sandy leads them down to the lower courtyard.
Upon entering the room of her master, the party sees before them the Red Wizard Azbara Jos talking to another Thayan wizard. After some condescending remarks, Azbara introduces the party to his fellow wizard Rath. With conversations not going well, Sandy takes up a defensive position in front of the wizards when the party begins to prepare for a fight. Most of the party quickly finds that they have no heart to inflict harm to Sandy, even desiring to protect her from others that wish her harm. They are quickly joined by 3 undead creatures that like to bite their quarry. Azbara is the first to fall, and Rath is able to flee under the protection of invisibility. His final words, “Until we meet again”. Sandy, and her minions, continue to carve into the group showing her true vampiric self. Most of the party struggles with damage not being what they expect upon the creatures. Belgwyn, teetering on unconsciousness several times, begins to make way with her radiant mace. In the end, Sariel uses her fiery misty step and then together with Belgwyn, push the mace through the chest of Sandy and watch as she dissolves into wisps of light. The other 3 creatures immediately fall limp to the ground. As the rays of the morning light begin their attempt to break the never-ending mist around the castle, Tobin’s Revenge collects themselves and begins to prepare how they will survive the rest of this early day against Rezmir and his cultists and the cloud giant in control of the castle.
