Caravan to Baldur’s Gate – DM Notes

After their first day in Waterdeep, the party learns more about their target through a harper letter to Sariel. The following morning the full damage done from the botched robbery reveals itself in the form of an edict against Tobin’s Revenge by the Watchful Order of Magists and Protectors.  Business is conducted with Volo to acquire the deed to Trollskull manor including an investment, to be handled by Renaer, in converting the manor back into the tavern it once was.  The party then made their way to the Trades Ward to secure passage on the caravan and learn about any…

Welcome to Waterdeep – DM Notes

After completing the journey by sea from Leolin to Waterdeep the party is exposed to the City of Splendor.  Registering with one of the Black Robes on the dock, the party split with Seebo and Dennis travel north to the Field Ward (after attempts to report Rosko’s murder) and the rest follow some of the disembarked crew to the Yawning Portal.  Seebo and Dennis meet Boc, Seebo’s home companion, at his prior residence off of Shanty Lane in the Field Ward.  The remainder of the party makes themselves home at the Yawning Portal, observing a brawl, meeting Hup, and dealing…

In the Wake of Cryovain – DM Notes

The party begins by picking up the pieces after the battle with the white dragon.  Resting up for the night and then starting down the mountain they encounter a sole humanoid as they enter the foothills.  After some talking, the half-elf Leosin is grateful for the party dealing with Cryovain (the white dragon they slew).  Deciding to allow the beaten and barely clothed half-elf travel west with them they learn of the Harpers and their concern over the growing dragon threat related to the Cult of the Dragon.  Leosin continued on to Leilon while the part stopped by Phandalin.  He…

Icespire Hold – DM Notes

The party approached Icespire Hold without much trouble.  They encountered 4 mercenaries, calling themselves the Stone-Cold Reavers, and after short negotiations chose violence.  Taking down the leader and second in command, the other 2 mercenaries locked themselves into their sleeping quarters.  An unfortunate choice to burn down the door led to the torching of the remaining mercenaries. The party then proceeded to explore the fortress proper, finding much lore and intrigue but nothing of importance other than maybe a toboggan.  Finally making their way up to the roof, they were caught off guard with the presence of 4 humanoids waiting…

Circle of Thunder – DM Notes

After investigating the Woodland Manse for most of its secrets (cloak, staff, rod, and dust all collected), the party continued north in pursuit of the druids that fled.  They encountered 3 anchorites of Talos and Gorthok the Thunder Boar at what would become known as the Circle of Thunder.  Even though heavily exhausted and Lucius fell unconscious once, the party prevailed.  They discovered a shield and a potion of unknown effect. Returning to Phandalin via Falcon’s destroyed lodge, they realize how bad the dragon threat is in the area.  Turning their attention to Icespire Peak they choose to deal with…

Woodland Manse – DM Notes

Upon arrival in Phandalin in the early evening, the party observes a flying object approaching the oddly vacant town.  Finding refuge in the Sleeping Giant as they attempt to make it to Tresendar Manor, a white dragon flies overhead and lands on the south side of town in Alderleaf Farm.  After catching a boar, the dragon flies off to the north-northwest without incident. The party meets 3 of their new hired help (the human Borin Hillless, the dwarf Latur Mountainriver, and the human Kaylein Montagu) and takes a well deserved rest.  The following morning they make their way north into…

Dragon Preparations – DM Notes

After settling in for the evening, Sariel was able to have time to herself and opened the wooden concealment box.  Inside she found items she kept to herself and the instruction phrases to reveal/conceal the box forms.  In the morning, Brughor Axe-Biter presented a couple of propositions regarding the fate of the Tresendar Manor.  The party present at breakfast decided to give Brughor enough gold up front to begin the repairs to bring the manor back up to its former glory and re-establish it as a working estate.  Upkeep cost will be taken from the mining funds, which will now…

Return to Phandalin in a Mess – DM Notes

A little summary. With the conclusion of Lost Mine of Phandelver, or part one of The Shatter Obelisk depending on how you want to see it, our former DM had decided to trade his seat at the table. Over the last couple of sessions Tobin’s Revenge had worked their way through Wave Echo Cave, culminating in a battle between the party and the Black Spider. In the heat of the battle one party member, Tethren, surprisingly disappeared and took their foe the Black Spider with him. Excited to have vanquished the dragon Venomfang again but confused at the actions of…

Trouble in Phandalin – Session 2

It was not the best of the nights in and around Cragmaw Hideout for our adventurers.  Between nursing their wounds and the smell of goblin remains emanating from the cave, sleep was hard to come by.  In the morning, Ekim and Sylla retrieved the wagon from its hiding spot while the remainder of the group started to pull their loot from the cave.  While resting in the wagon Sildar noticed the blue lion stamp on some of the crates for the first time. ‘Those belong to the Lionshield Coster’ are the first words Sildar had said since his rescue.  ‘There…
